Parish Hall Expansion Synopsis

 

To recap, the Parish approved Concept 2 in March 2024, (demolition of the rectory and potential severance and sale of two lots west of the church along Railton Road) which necessitated the expansion of the parish hall. The expansion was required to accommodate the functions that had previously existed in the rectory e.g. a priest’s office, a secretary’s office, and storage of church records, as well as Knights of Columbus, CWL and miscellaneous seasonal items.  

 

Two design options for the expansion of the Parish Hall were developed by Colbourne and Kembel Architects. Both options contain a universal washroom, a secretary’s office, a priest’s office, a storage area and renovated kitchen. The difference is in the size of the hall. (Costs are ROM Rough Order of Magnitude).

 

Option A: 

 21 tables and 127 chairs. 

The addition is 87 sq m.  

Construction cost estimate is $386,000.                     Total Hall Project cost, including rectory demolition, design, fees, permits, lot severances etc., is $564,411.                                                           

Net cost, after factoring in revenue from lot sales and parish contribution, is $179,411.

Option B:  

31 tables and 187 chairs. 

The addition is 141 sq m. 

Construction cost estimate is $604,000. 

Total Hall Project cost, including rectory demolition, design fees, permits, lot severances etc.,  $800,737. Net cost, after factoring in revenue from lot sales and parish contribution, is $415,737

Option A or Option B by:

•.    Fill in a ballot located at the back of the Parish hall with           your choice and your name and put it in the box, which           will be kept at the back of the hall

•.    The Parish Secretary will verify that you are a parishioner

•.    The briefing will be forwarded to the rest of the parish for       their vote and included on the Parish web site

•.    Vote closes on Monday June 30th
